July 13, 2008 - Hard to believe that there is just under 1 week left until our anticipated due date. At my last appointment, July 11, the doctor said that my cervix was still pretty high, but had definitely started to soften and drop from the appointment before that, but no dilation yet. My next appointment is Thursday, July 17th (my mom's birthday), at which time I'll be hooked up to a monitor for a 20 -30 minute non-stress test. The doctor said that as long as there was no stress on either me or the baby, she's going to let me go over 40 weeks, but will start monitoring me twice a week (every half week I guess) ... it's times like this that make is very obvious to me that I am WAY to much of a planner! Scott starts working the night shift tomorrow ... when he first started working he worked nights & I was able to get used to that schedule, so I'm sure I will get used to a similar schedule now ... but it will be really different for at least the first couple weeks, especially if I go over my due date! We talked about it for several weeks after he had been approached about it at work and finally decided that, for now, it is actually a more practical schedule for daycare. Scott will have Daddy bonding time during the day, we'll only need day care for a couple hours every afternoon & then I will have Mommy bonding time during the evening hours. I felt uncomfortable about it at first, but we are not the first family in history to have opposite work schedules and other families deal with it just fine, so we will too! Well, my bag is packed and ready to go ... hopefully I'll have the baby before my next update, but who really knows! Love & hugs y'all, |
